ABOUT THE MY SWITCH DIGITAL TV WEBSITE

We find this website is a valuable tool (one we use ourselves) to get an indication of what TV reception signals we are likely to receive in a given area. However, it is always an INDICATION and not always accurate.

THE FACTS

  • We find that the website is one of the best tools to get an indication. But an indication is all it is – It is most definitely not a COMPLETE DIAGNOSIS for the following reasons:
Trees, mountains, valleys, buildings, natural landscaping and local interference can determine the amount of signal that can received in any given area at any given time.
  • We use this tool to gauge the LIKLIHOOD of installing a high performing TV antenna vs. installing a high extended mast installation vs. Vast TV installation but ultimately a site test determines what results can be achieved and the best option to recommend to you.
  • We frequently find that a house is labelled on this website as a green or orange area but in fact no signals can be picked up even with a 40ft mast and the customer had to get Vast installed and Inspectors came out to verify that the area truly is a grey/black spot zone.

About VAST TV

Vast TV is a receiving normal F2A HD channels via satellite & using a government registered smart card in a specific decoder box that sits near your Television. Whilst the decoder boxes are not that cheap, there are no ongoing subscriptions and the result is close to 100% guaranteed. Only very heavy cloud cover may cause TV signal interruptions and with a TV Magic Vast installation; our superior performing satellite dishes deliver even better performance.

How does VAST WORK?

A dish points straight up into the sky. Therefore, there are less obstacles in the way to receive a perfect signal strength and quality from the satellite up in space. With antennas we experience, trees, buildings , mountains, valleys, hills & atmospheric conditions which all effect the performance of an antenna to receive adequate signal strength and quality.

Furthermore, not all people are eligible to receive vast. Vast TV is available to those who physical address is identified as a poor reception area or a professional installer has confirmed that your house lies WITHIN or in PROXIMITY to a “variable coverage” or “black spot” zone.

More About Vast

Vast TV is all your regular HD and digital channels including 26-30 Free to air channels via a small satellite dish on your roof. It is 99% reliable with the exception of extreme cloud cover. The service is provided by VAST Australia to residents or travellers who live in black spots or zones that have been pre-categorized as ‘variable coverage’. Vast is the best solution for TV reception where extended masts and raising the height of your antenna are still failing to produce adequate signal that can be relied upon and backed by a warranty.

How much will it cost?

Every house is different but here is a basic explanation. If you have an unused, fully functional satellite dish on your roof(ie. Unused foxtel dish(savings of approximately $300-$500 can be made as we can use this dish for your vast installation.

Vast decoder boxes come with a government registered smar t card and cost approximately $300-$500 per unit (depending on the features you desire). There is the option to use one x vast box per household and feed the same channel to all TVs. This option has some pros and cons and may save you some dollars if you have more than 3 TVs in the hosue. However if you want full flexibility – getting one vast box per TV is always going to deliver the best result.

Ask your local tech for a fixed quote on a Super reliable Vast installation for you home that meets your requirements.

What to expect

Whilst installations will only take approx 1-3 hrs depending on the work required, registrations can, at times, take a little longer. The government Vast website informs everybody that it can take up to 14 days for channels to be turned on for a new site or even 2 months for a category change if you need VAST TV and the map incorrectly says you fall within a green area. In our experience and using our tricks of the trade we it is much sooner than this. Whilst we cannot guarantee for anybody that it will be sooner than 14 days we typically experience the following results:

  • 80% Vast installations go through in approx. 10minutes (During M-F 9am -4pm EST)
  • 90% Vast installations outside of business hours go through the very next business day.
  • 70-80% of category change requests can happen just as quick when Vast Australia speaks to a TV Magic technician over the phone.
