"Juan had been putting up with the dreaded "weak or no signal" issue with his TV aerial reception for months before he finally had enough and called TV Magic Southport Gold Coast. When we arrived we found that Juan's home had ten TV outlets and was a multi-storey home which even Juan new would require a TV signal booster to handle the demand. We actually found that a TV signal amplifier had been installed it just wasn't working properly anymore. We replace the TV antenna's masthead amplifier on the roof and swapped out the booster power pack and Juan's low TV signal was solved. Juan rang us a month later to thank us again, the "weak or no signal" issue never returned, no more channel pixilation! However we already knew it wouldn't because we carry the proper tools to measure the TV signal before and after our work, I guess he forgot that part ;)"
5 Things most people don't know about TV signal boosters / masthead amplifiers
- Boosting a 'crap' signal doesn't fix the issue. If you're not receiving the minimum digital TV signal requirements at your antenna pre-amplification at your home in Southport Gold Coast then the strengthening it is not going to help much. The first thing you ideally need to do is increase the signal being received at your antenna by either relocating the antenna, installing a higher gain antenna or putting it on a high mast. A booster crap tv signal gives you a crap boosted tv signal. :)
- The booster as referred to by customers does no boosting. Nearly all customers think the powered t-piece that plugs into your TV socket on the wall is the booster. However it is simply a power supply for your antenna booster / aerial amplifier which is located either in your ceiling or on the antenna mast usually.
- They come in different strengths. You can buy amplifiers that are stronger than others and most are adjustable. You really need a proper TV aerial signal reader to be able to adjust a TV antenna booster correctly because too much or too little signal will cause channel pixilation.
- The power supplies are different voltages. Many times a customer will move into a new home and the previous tenant has taken the TV antenna boosters power pack with them causing the aerial masthead amplifier to not work at all, thus giving the customer lots of channel pixilation at their Southport Gold Coast home. When they buy a new booster power pack they suddenly realise that they come in many different voltages and basically if you fit the wrong voltage your mast head amplifier will either not work or it will heat up and become faulty before it's due time.
- Commercial Amplifiers are not cheap. When we're called out to repair the TV signal at a building or apartment complex most of the time it's because their MATV amplifier responsible for serving the TV antenna signal for the whole place is buggered. Essentially when we supply and calibrate a new amplifier it can be a vary time consuming exercise trying to get the TV aerial signal at the right level to cater for each dwelling. We're also taking on the responsibility for many TV outlets, so the cost of fixing up a building takes this into account and is quite a bit more expensive to fix than the average house in Southport Gold Coast.

"Jacinta of Southport Gold Coast manages a building and was receiving many calls from the tennants complaining that the TV Antenna signal was not working. When TV Magic arrived we checked the TV aerial which was okay and moved straight on to the usual cause, the MATV tv signal booster. It was not functioning so we supplied, installed and calibrated a new one. Jacinta was really pleased with our quick attendance and to have 'got that monkey off her back' as she put it with the constant calls from TV dependant tenants."
