Why put up with pixilating TV channels, Weak or No Signal?

"Jeffery moved into his new home in Southport Gold Coast and quickly found out he couldn't get any TV reception on all of his TV's. They either showed a heavily pixilating TV channel or the dread "weak or no signal, check TV antenna" message. When we arrived we found that the home had basically been wired for primarily watching Foxtel and the TV aerial system was very old and not in working order. Instead of paying over $1000 a year for Foxtel Jeffery decided to get a new TV antenna system installed. We replaced the TV Antenna, installed a new booster (because his Southport home wasn't receiving enough signal due to buildings blocking the line of sight), replaced some of the coax cabling, the splitter and the TV wall plates."

5 Things that can need replacing in an antenna system that's aged and why.

  1. The antenna. Although most antennas are made out of aluminium which doesn't rust, the critical part which transmits the signal into the coax cable often does and so every 10 years or so you may need a new antenna.
  2. The splitter. Over time the splitters (splits the antenna signal from one cabling attached to the TV antenna into multiple coax cables for each TV outlet) tend to corrode and lose more and more TV reception signal.
  3. The cabling. With rare exception we find the cabling that runs through the walls and ceiling are normally okay for 20+ years but the coax cabling that's been exposed on the roof nearly always gets weathered and needs changing when a new antenna is installed in Southport Gold Coast?
  4. The connectors. Often the metal connectors that connect the coax cable to the wall plates and splitter corrode over time and can reduce the TV antenna signal a little bit.
  5. The wall plates. Rusty, corroded wall plates can often cause significant TV aerial signal loss and form a loose connection to your antenna cable that runs to your TV in Southport Gold Coast. It's always a good idea to change these too when doing TV reception repair work.

A real-life example from today, 19th February 2018 follows:

"Penelope from Southport Gold Coast was having trouble getting good TV antenna reception on just one of her TV outlets in her home and called TV Magic out to have a look. What we found was the TV reception was quite good on all of her other TV aerial outlets but the one she was having trouble with. After confirming this fact we removed the TV wall plate and found the connector and wall plate where rusty and corroded. We replaced her TV signal reception wall plate and connector and the TV aerial signal was great. Penelope was really happy it was a quick cheap fix."

Having TV reception problems? Pixelation? One channel dropping out or freezing?

Why does that happen? How is digital Tv different to analogue? Why do you only get problems on one TV point or only on one TV channel?

The following videos give you some answer to all of the above. These are very commonly asked questions. Basically, any problems you are experiencing will not fix themselves. They may come 'good again' however, this will be temporary. By Calling TV Magic we can ascertain by using our 'field strength meter' just how good or how bad your TV channels really are. When we test, we are looking to see if any channel is reaching minimum signal requirements. This will make sure there is enough 'head room' for fluctuation for bad weather, trees, a few broken elements and other factors that effect signal strength and signal quality. If these minimal requirements are not met, yes you may still have a 'perfect clear picture' however the BIG QUESTION is; for how long for? Yes your bald tyre does keep air in it and drives your car around, but obviously it's not going to take a nail or a bit of glass on the road as well as a brand new tyre.
