5 Things to watch out for wall mounting your TV yourself
- The screen can be easily damaged. One little lapse in concentration and your beautiful expensive TV could be cactus. Very rarely any sought of screen damage can be repaired cost effectively.
- Pipes and Electrical wires. Unless you have x-ray vision and or lots of experience drilling into walls with confidence this is a big issue, can you imagine the consequence of drilling into a electrical cable or water pipe while trying to wall mount your TV or sound bar in Southport Gold Coast? It's not worth it, call an expert.
- If it falls off it could kill a child. Unfortunately children have died in the past from wall mounted Tv's falling off the wall and onto them. Do you want to be responsible for a solid TV wall mount?
- Hidden wood noggins. If you mess up and put your TV too high or cut your cable concealment holes in the wrong place you may not be able to hide the cables in the wall because wooden noggins are in the way.
- Are the wall studs structurally sound enough? Some homes or units are built with thin metal studs in the walls, you must be very mindful of the stress you put on the screws in the studs; I've seen them rip out in the past from DIYers in Southport Gold Coast.
