Hi Dan from TV Magic here. During our work week we find ourselves replacing many old faulty tv signal boosters / amplifiers and people calling us because they've moved into their new home and can't get any TV reception at all, which is usually booster related. Particularly around the Hope Island area we find when people move out they take half the booster with them, the power pack.

TV signal boosters / amplifiers typically have two main sections. The part that lives on the antenna mast or in your ceiling and the power pack. The aerial booster requires power and this is supplied by a power pack (more commonly referred to as "the booster" by customers).  The power pack can be located in the ceiling or at a TV socket in the home. If it is turned off or interfered with the antenna signal for the house stops working completely.

You can go to a store like Bunnings or Jaycar and they can sell you a "booster" / power pack for an amplifier but what they don't know is it has to be for the correct voltage or it won't work or worse still it will work badly and or overheat and destroy your actual tv signal amplifier / booster. Most of the time when we find houses that don't have their power pack because the previous tenant took it with them accidentally it's generally to better to replace the set instead of just the power pack. That way you get the best warranty and longevity of our repair work.

A real-life example from today, 2nd November 2017 follows:

Mr Rhea bought a house in Sanctuary Cove Hope island and soon found out his TV reception wasn't working. The management of the gated facility didn't want to help him and told him to ring a private TV antenna signal repair man such as us. What we found was in Mr Rhea's home hub box in the garage was an existing Hills combined splitter powered amplifier component which had blown and needed replacing. We replaced his component with a different booster and splitter and tuned in Mr Rhea's TV's complimentary. My Rhea was very happy and gave us another 5-star review on our google business listing.
