If you've never been exposed to, or met someone who has been struck down by mental health issues, it can be all too easy (& human) to make judgements. We've even had a couple of technicians who were ex Army, ex Police officers and they suffered from PTSD. At first their symptoms seemed invisible. It wasn't until after several years that the PTSD appeared and surfaced. In the example of the police officer; he was going into client's homes which previously he has been into before - years, or decades earlier (as a Police Officer) and the last memory of that home could have been seeing a deceased elderly person fall down the stairs; remembering the stench of a 2 week - old body. Another home may bring back memories of a drug raid, a shooting, where terrible things happened to kids or knocking on a door to deliver some terrible news to a relative. Besides PTSD; mental health has gotten the better of many tradies around the country whether it be stress from ATO debt, a break up, a divorce, a seperation, sickness in the family, loss of a loved one, loss of a child, teenage pregnancies, neighbourhood disputes, unpaid invoices ... the list really is endless. It can strike different people at different times; from all sorts of angles. TV Magic is proactive about bringing awareness to mental health; especially in aid of suicide prevention.
