Projector lamps - not all are made equal
The model and type of projector you have will determine the availability and time required to order a new projector lamp. Lamps vary in lifespan. Some have only 2000 hours whilst some have 10,000 hours. Cheaper, chinese made lamps will usually get you less hours than a genuine (Sony Lamp e.g).
Should I get a new lamp or a new projector?
Technology is moving so fast these days and if you have bought one recently it may be worth while to get a new lamp. If however your projector is ten or more years old - it may be one of the old 'square aspect' projectors and newere projectors will now project in widescreen but this will require a new widescreen viewing platform (your projector screen) as well. A newere projecto can also deliver a more outstanding picture like HD or 3D however this may mean an upgrade of the cables as well depending on what your system is equipped with or not.
