"Les bought a new 75inch Samsung TV and wanted it mounted on his wall inside a recess. When we arrived, we found the recess only allowed 1cm of gap either side of his TV which meant we couldn't use a typical flat Tv wall mount as we can't get our fingers in there to hang it on the bracket at the end. So, we installed a full motion tv bracket that allowed us to hang the TV well outside of the recess and push it in afterwards; this also allowed us to make any adjustments to cater for imperfections and make it perfectly level inside the recess. After we installed Les's TV on the wall in his Tallebudgera home he showed us his home cinema and some of his future plans which he's going to need our help with too."

5 Things that can make wall mounting a sound bar perfectly difficult

  1. Concealing the cablesA soundbar is usually quite thin and doesn't leave much room for concealing a hole in the wall behind it and also trying to hide the usual power brick that comes with it. You really have to plan out your cabling very well in order to have a perfect result. You have to have cables running inside the wall to the TV and typically also down to a power point at the bottom of the wall as well.
  2. Getting it level. Most sound bars will give you something similar to two picture hooks to hang it on, one on either side. It can be tuff getting your measurements exact and then also the hooks exactly the same. There's no adjustments and typically you're having to mount the sound bars on plaster plugs with wood screws in them. You can't be even a millimetre off level or you will notice it big-time since it's running parallel with the TV.
  3. Mounting it safely. Unfortunately, most sound bars don't install what I call safely on the wall because the manufacturers basically give you two pre-determined picture hanging type mount points on the back which nearly always don't line up with the studs in the wall. So, you're left with a sound bar wall mounted on plaster screw plugs which can easily rip out. There's no way around this unless you want to make some sort of a thin brace that screws to the wall and then you screw your sound bar to it. Some higher end sound bars like Bose and Sonos do actually come with a brace type mounting system which is good.
  4. Hiding the not so pretty side of the sound bar (underside). When you place your sound bar on a tv cabinet the underside is completely hidden which is good because it looks pretty ordinary and typically doesn't matter unless you are wall mounting your sound bar in your Tallebudgera home because once it's on the wall you can see all the underside of the sound bar. You really have to keep this in mind when you hang the soundbar and try to avoid having an ugly underside showing when you're sitting down watching the TV.
  5. Getting power to it neatly. Unlike a TV you can't hide a power point behind the sound-bar so you have figure out a way of either getting the power cable from the bottom up or if you have a power point behind the TV a method of getting it there. Some things that can make that hard is having to deal with horizontal studs in the wall blocking the passage or trying to hide a big fat power brick (a lot come with these).

A real-life example from today, 12th March 2019 follows:

"Mr Anderson brought a new TV and was upsold a sound bar as he's hard of hearing, he couldn't set it up himself and ideally wanted his TV wall mounted so he called TV Magic Tallebudgera Gold Coast. What we found when we arrived was a really old TV and equipment setup that he wanted replaced. So we got it all out of the way and wall mounted his TV, put his sound bar on the TV cabinet and reconnected his old Foxtel, DVD and VCR player. Mr Anderson was very grateful, the picture was big and easy to see and he could hear it clearly, plus it all worked off the one remote now."
