"Daniel recently built a new home in Pacific Pines Gold Coast and found out after moving in the builder didn't include a TV aerial installation as part of the package so Daniel called TV Magic for help. It's actually a fairly typical situation for us and we installed a new quality digital TV antenna, mast, cabling into the roof and fit off a splitter to the coax cables that the builder left to connect to. Looking around at the other new builds nearby as usual they've all gone with the cheap and nasty solution without even knowing it."

5 Ways most new home build antenna systems will let you down. (FYI, they are price competitive and normally not made to last and installed not by people in the TV aerial industry)

  1. They are usually flimsy. Flimsy antennas get broken by birds within a short amount of time causing TV antenna reception issues prematurely.
  2. They often use unsteady masts. Generally they use a straight post with no support which wobbles easily, this leads to an inconsistent TV antenna signal for your TVs.
  3. Poor water proofing. Most of the time they are installed by electricians or builders and they don't know what they are doing or care and don't properly water proof the connections, it's not like they have to offer a warranty over 12 months.
  4. Not correctly aligned. As mentioned above the TV aerials are not typically installed by a professional to save on costs and therefore they seem to just take a look at the neighbours TV antenna and point in the same direction, which of course was probably not even aligned correctly either ;)
  5. The often use poor quality amplifiers / signal boosters. MAs mentioned already a few times, the people installing these antenna systems aren't in the industry, don't have a long term warranty period to worry about and buy most of their gear from electrical wholesalers or retail stores. In my opinion most of them wouldn't even know they usually fit crap TV signal boosters to the homes.

A real-life example from today, 24th February 2018 follows:

"Jennifer bought a home that was only 3 years old in Pacific Pines Gold Coast and was wondering why she was having TV reception problems in this near new home when all her neighbours said they had great TV reception. Jennifer called TV Magic to come out and have a look at the situation. What we found was typical of a newly constructed home nowadays. A cheap, unprofessionally installed TV antenna / aerial system had been installed. The mast was rusting, the antenna was broken from birds in multiple places, the booster was hanging off the mast and the mast was the incorrect type for a solid mount on a tile roof. After breaking the news to Jennifer she agreed the best solution was to replace the antenna system with one of our kits, guaranting her at least 10 years of worry free solid TV reception."

Having TV reception problems? Pixelation? One channel dropping out or freezing?

Why does that happen? How is digital Tv different to analogue? Why do you only get problems on one TV point or only on one TV channel?

The following videos give you some answer to all of the above. These are very commonly asked questions. Basically, any problems you are experiencing will not fix themselves. They may come 'good again' however, this will be temporary. By Calling TV Magic we can ascertain by using our 'field strength meter' just how good or how bad your TV channels really are. When we test, we are looking to see if any channel is reaching minimum signal requirements. This will make sure there is enough 'head room' for fluctuation for bad weather, trees, a few broken elements and other factors that effect signal strength and signal quality. If these minimal requirements are not met, yes you may still have a 'perfect clear picture' however the BIG QUESTION is; for how long for? Yes your bald tyre does keep air in it and drives your car around, but obviously it's not going to take a nail or a bit of glass on the road as well as a brand new tyre.
