"Desmond moved in a unit complex which had a shared antenna system but unfortunately it was not delivering enough TV signal for Desmond's unit. What we found was the TV aerial signal in the roof cavity was okay but by the time it travelled through the old coax cable to the wall sockets it was in bad shape. To resolve the issue we installed a antenna signal booster inside his roof and changed the old wall plates and splitter to ensure a solid power up. Desmond's home in Pacific Pines now has fantastic TV signal levels and won't have to worry about any channel pixelation or the dreaded 'Weak or No Signal' message again."

5 Mistakes DIYers make when installing their own masthead booster themselves

  1. They buy a retail store model. Antenna industry professionals don't buy their boosters from retail stores or even electrical wholesalers. They just don't have the good products that we know will last 10+ years out in the weather.
  2. They don't 'double protect' the water proofing. Masthead amplifiers have a water proofing case which either clips in, screws in or slips on, all of which given a few years in the sun tend to break free from the plastic getting brittle. Ideally a second industry secret layer of protection should be applied to all TV signal masthead amplifier installations to guarantee a very long life span.
  3. They secure the amplifier to the mast with the one provided cable tie. Cable ties are plastic and they get brittle and break after a few years in the sun. As soon as this happens the amplifier is left dangling upside down just waiting for the next rain cloud to destroy it.
  4. They use Non-F-type connections. You need special tools to put connections on the coax cable which are costly and good amplifiers only use this type of connection, the saddle and screw models typically leave you with an exposed circuit board just waiting for the first spider to make his nest on.
  5. They use all port power pass splitters. Although it makes it easier to get a masthead amplifier working on the Pacific Pines home it leaves the booster at risk of being power overloaded by unknown residents plugging in multiple booster power packs at the same time.

A real-life example from today, 25th February 2018 follows:

"After a recent storm all the TV sockets at Jennifer's home stopped working. What happened was the old TV aerial masthead amplifier had detached from the antenna mast and was handing upside down, this allowed the rain to get in and fry the circuit board. We installed a new TV aerial masthead booster for Jennifer's home in Pacific Pines Gold Coast and changed her old TV antenna at the same time. Jennifer was very happy with our service and was glad we gave her a 5-year warranty on our parts and workmanship."

Having TV reception problems? Pixelation? One channel dropping out or freezing?

Why does that happen? How is digital Tv different to analogue? Why do you only get problems on one TV point or only on one TV channel?

The following videos give you some answer to all of the above. These are very commonly asked questions. Basically, any problems you are experiencing will not fix themselves. They may come 'good again' however, this will be temporary. By Calling TV Magic we can ascertain by using our 'field strength meter' just how good or how bad your TV channels really are. When we test, we are looking to see if any channel is reaching minimum signal requirements. This will make sure there is enough 'head room' for fluctuation for bad weather, trees, a few broken elements and other factors that effect signal strength and signal quality. If these minimal requirements are not met, yes you may still have a 'perfect clear picture' however the BIG QUESTION is; for how long for? Yes your bald tyre does keep air in it and drives your car around, but obviously it's not going to take a nail or a bit of glass on the road as well as a brand new tyre.
