The Big Dugong

The Big Dugong was one of those BIG Monuments / Big Things that surprises you by it's size. (Which is what you want right!) The BIG DUGONG is approximately 5-6 X the size of a real life, adult Dugong. Other "Big Animals" monuments are only 2-3 X , especially the disappointing size of the BIG HUMPBACK WHALE of Hervey Bay. This site is very much worth the time, effort and travel to see. It is even worth the entry fee.

No. There is an entry fee to be able to see the Monument. However, if you ask nicely, they may let you enter for free to see the Big Dugong (as we did). The attraction also has aboriginal history/heritage and offers a Boomerang throwing / teaching class. We missed the class / timing. You will want to make sure you come during business hours to access the Big Dugong.

The Big Dugong monument / Icon is situated INSIDE an Attraction (not out the front) - The Dreamtime Cultural Centre, Rockhampton. You'll need to grab a park and enter the attraction during business hours and take a 10-15min walk to see it.

The Big Dugong measures 22m long! That's approximately 5-6 x Real Life Adult Size Dugong. Which is impressive as many of the "BIG ANIMALS" are only 2 -3 x (Especially the disappointing Size of the BIG HUMPBACK WHALE of Hervey Bay)
